I'd never before seen The Black Cat starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. It happened to be on TCM last night and Dale and I decided to give it a try. The story was pretty creepy. It involved a satanic cult and had a disturbing ending which turns out was originally even too extreme for the sensors in this pre-Code film and had to be edited.
In the film Karloff looks like a member of a 1980s English new wave band.
Although the movie poster credits the story to Edgar Allan Poe the film bears little resemblance to his original short story. In the opening credits it is stated that the film is merely "suggested by" Poe's story.
Dale and I found pumpkin pie ice cream at Lund's today so we picked some up.
My gosh it was delicious. It had pieces of pie crust in it.
