Lunch with Noel and then shopping.
When I got home I carved a couple pumpkins.
I think they turned out pretty well.
Candy procured at Lund's.
Set up the pumpkin display.
This year a group of our neighbors, four households, decided to band together to pass out candy. Josh and Breanna next door set up command central in their front yard.
Dale and I set up our yard too but we ended up moving our operation to Josh and Breanna's and hanging out with them. Jumi, Sam, and Andrea were the other neighbors who joined us.
I lit the candles for the pumpkin display around 5:30
Josh and Breanna set out some snacks and adult bevereges. They also set a fire up in their Solo fire pit. We all had a great time talking as we passed out candy to trick or treaters.
As the evening progressed Brianna kept bringing out more food to share including white beans and sausage and salad amongst other things.
As things were still getting set up I saw our neighbor Lisa crossing the street and coming toward us and I immediately knew she was dressed as Carol Burnett portraying Scartlett O'Hara from her old comedy skit Went with the Wind. I approached her and said, "Something you saw in the window and just had to have?" Her husband was dressed as a chicken. I asked if he was the angry chicken from Family Guy. He said the wasn't his original intention but that he was now.
Our first trick or treater arrived shortly before 6;00. He was Mickey Mouse, his dad was Goofy, and his mom was Minnie. They told us he was about 18 months old and that this was his first time trick or treating.
Here's Ada in her witch constume. I thought she looked great. She didn't want to show her face for pictures, at first.
However, she changed her mind when she posed with Bran. He was a warlock.
We all had a great time hanging out and chatting in between passing out candy. The kids were all so polite and their parents were very appreciative toward us.
I have to say this is probably the most enjoyable Halloween ever. At least as an adult.
It was so nice to be outside. Thankfully the weather was cooperative. I think that was a contributing factor in our receiving 75 trick or treaters. The most EVER. Also we were out until 9 pm. When we pass out candy from the house we usually shut it down around 7 so we can eat dinner.
It was nice to catch up with the neighbors especially Sam and Jumi who I hadn't previously met.
I think there are a few things that helped make this Halloween so enjoyable.
First, it's still daylight savings time. Although it's been slowly getting darker ever earlier it still was an hour more of light than we would have had.
Second, Halloween fell on a Saturday. The next time this'll happen isn't until 2037.

And third, we celebrated with others. It was nice trying something new this year.
