Nice to have the day off to relax at home. Aside from getting a few loads of wash done my main goal was relaxation. Turner Classic Movies was showing a bunch of old Hammer Studios horror films from early 70s. I caught a couple and they were quite fun.
The first was Taste the Blood of Dracula starring Christopher Lee as the Count. Blood, gore, depiction of the dark arts, which are absent from the Bela Legosi Dracula films of the 1930s, are on full display here and are indeed shocking. In this film three men kill one of Dracula's servants which, as it turns out, and hardly surprising, was the wrong thing to do. Terror ensues.
The second film was Dracula A.D. 1972. As is evident from the title, this one takes place in the early 70s which is when it was released. The plot has many similarities to Taste the Blood of Dracula although this story includes Peter Cushing playing a descendant of Dr. Van Helsing who is trying to save his granddaughter from the evil influence of Count Dracula, again played by Christopher Lee. Dale was home from work and caught most of this one. He, as I, quite liked it.
