Watched Straight-Jacket tonight with Warren and Gary.

"Straight-Jacket is a 1964 American horror thriller film starring Joan Crawford and Diane Baker in a macabre mother and daughter tale about a series of axe-murders. Released by Columbia Pictures, the film was directed and produced by William Castle, and co-produced by Dona Holloway. . . Strait-Jacket marks the first big-screen appearance of Lee Majors in the uncredited role of Crawford's husband. The film's plot made use of the psychological abuse method known as gas lighting."
"The promotion of Strait-Jacket by the studio, the director and Crawford is addressed in the episode 'Hagsploitation' of the 2017 television miniseries Feud."
Watched Straight-Jacket tonight with Warren and Gary.
The movie has some brief although far from subtle Pepsi product placement. Fanatics know: "Joan Crawford was married to PepsiCo president Alfred Steele from 1955 to 1959 (his death), and was advertising executive and board of directors member from 1959 to 1973." (Wikipedia)

Halloween Season 2017: Dinner and Movie Night with Warren and Gary

Gary and Warren came over for dinner and movie night with the featured movie being Straight-Jacket starring Joan Crawford. Dale and I made chili and Warren brought quesadillas and chicken drummies.
The drinking buddies made appearances also.
For dessert we had pumpkin bread with ice cream.

Halloween Season 2017: Ghostly Tales
I found this great book recently over at Garrison Keillor's book store in St. Paul. It contains seven "spine-chilling stories of the Victorian age." One, Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad is a favorite of mine. Creepy events begin to occur after a professor finds an old whistle in the ruins of a church and then puckers his lips and blows it, literally and figuratively. Author M.R. James does a great job of setting the scene and then letting the reader's imagination run wild.

It's that time of year again. Yeah, I know the pumpkin flavoring thing has been overdone in recent years. I saw a mock ad recently for pumpkin spice Clorox making light of just that. However, I love this stuff (the Fulton's Harvest, that is).
